When does the course start and finish?
The course starts upon enrollment and unlimited access for 90 days! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish. Watch the video(s) as many times as you like.
Can I get a certificate of completion?
Yes! If you complete all 15 workshops you can get a Certificate of Completion!
Can I do this course at home?
To avoid injury it is critical that you always practice exercises on appropriate flooring with proper support (i.e. studio floors with a ballet barre). Unacceptable flooring includes, but is not limited to carpet, tile, and concrete. Portable dance floors are suitable when placed on a level/flat surface completely away from any items, such as furniture, that you can come in contact with. In a studio or home studio is the best way, Suggested footwear are proper and correctly fitted ballet slippers. Common ballet class attire, such as leotards, that allow for range of motion should be worn.
Will it work for me and what levels or ages is it suitable for?
If you are coachable, focused and work on the corrections you will improve. It should go without saying but... don't be upset about the results you didn't get from the work you didn't do. You must practice and apply the corrections and take the course as seriously as you would an in person class. Your only limits are you. You can do it!
The videos are suitable for beginners, pros, adult beginners and students of all levels. Do not attempt pointe work if you have not been approved for pointe by a qualified teacher.
It is suitable for those currently dancing at a level where they are completing at least one rotation. It won't start as far back as turns in coupé but will start with basics and foundations of turns. Just not full blown beginner that knows nothing. Students should be familiar with basic pirouette technique. It's basically to clean up and advance your pirouettes and become more consistent.
Do I need to, or can I, download the videos?
No, in order to protect the course content and IP you may stream the videos online but you cannot and should not download them. You can access them through any browser or device by logging into your account at academyfordance.com. You do need Internet access. Data charges may apply. We do not have an app at this time but access is easy with any browser on all your devices.
How is this course different or better?
It is exclusive and not available anywhere else. You cannot get this training from Robbie Downey anywhere else online. You will have exclusive access to Robbie's pirouette training and experience that she has obtained by working at the top schools in the country since she was 12 years old.
Robbie had to work hard to achieve success. She does not consider herself a "prodigy" and believes hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard! She is relatable, down-to-earth, and can't wait to help you improve your turns.
Can I get a personal evaluation of my pirouettes from the instructor Robbie?
This will be offered as a separate purchase and you will need to submit a video.
Are the lessons for turns on flat or on pointe?
The lessons are for flat and pointe shoes. However, you should not attempt pointe work unless you have been approved by a qualified teacher to dance on pointe. This can be dangerous and you can get hurt.
How long is each workshop?
The workshops vary in length but are at least 30 minutes each and the bundle of all the workshops is over 8 hours of pirouette training.
